Kristen Michelle Poulter Bio

Kristen Poulter is a lyricist, composer, producer, and poet whose work explores themes of truth, grief, strength, healing, and hope. Through emotionally driven songwriting and reflective poetry, she creates artistic pieces rooted in personal experience, resilience, and creative expression.

Known artistically as Pen Name Moon, her creative identity represents “creating from the edges” and transforming darkness into light through music and written word.

Kristen began writing during childhood and was first published as a poet at the age of 12. Over the years, she has continued developing her artistic voice through songwriting, poetry, and independent creative projects that blend emotion, storytelling, and inspiration.

In 2026, Kristen was recognized as an official ISSA Nominee for Female Emerging Artist of the Year, after previously reaching finalist stages in multiple consecutive years.

She is also the founder of an independent music label created to encourage, protect, and uplift independent artists and authors.

Kristen Poulter, professionally known as Pen Name Moon, continues to honor the memory of her late father, Brett Clinton McElwaney, by sharing his music and ensuring his legacy lives on. Brett, a talented rock and roll musician and songwriter, passed away unexpectedly in July 2024, just before Kristen’s finalist appearance at the International Singer-Songwriters Association (ISSA) awards for Female Songwriter of the Year.
